Women Bullying Women: An Effect Of Women's Lib

After being oppressed since the dawn of Life, Women’s Lib has unleashed the Cats from Hell. Traditionally, as the underdogs in society if anything went wrong – bad weather, bad crops, a deformed babe, it was a woman’s fault. Eve, who wandered around Paradise in her Not-So-Secret lingerie, is held responsible for the Fall from Grace. When God asked, “Who ate this fruit?” Adam whimpered, pointed his finger at Eve, “She made me do it.” Exactly how could tiny little Eve, the size of a rib, shove a Fuji apple down Adam’s throat remains a mystery. History says Helen of Troy was responsible for the greatest war yet recorded. Of course it was never mentioned that she wasn’t in it - men started it, fought it and lost it - all of their own volition. Helen was home knitting a purple toga for Agamemnon.

But…here’s the problem that Women’s Liberation has created. Power requires responsibility - we learn how to use it – not “mis-use” it. Instead of female bullying weapons of choice - snide remarks, contemptuous looks, derisive laughter, back stabbing - women emulate men in brain-dead bullying tactics of physical violence.

Violence feeds the press and the press feeds the violence. Since many people are “monkey see, monkey do,” violence has become pervasive. When a person has no self-esteem or inner-strength – he bullies.

To sum up bullying as a result of Women’s Liberation, here are two reasons:

1. The loss of identity; who are we? The previous roles of mothers, wives, whipping boys, are no longer viable. It’s New Woman vs True Woman- an agonizing inner struggle. Society sticks to old beliefs the same way my spaghetti sauce sticks to the kitchen ceiling – unsightly and hard to remove.

2. Now, what do we do? As free women, how do we act? There are no models of women’s freedom to showing how to behave. Our models are men who have based their leadership on force and subjugation of women.

There is concern that boys are not doing as well in school since Women’s Lib has gained momentum. One charter school where I taught was 99% Asian where mothers characteristically focus on their sons’ achievements. One concerned mother stopped me in the school hall, pinned my wrist with her talons and stared into my eyes. “We must do something for the boys, “she stated. “They’re falling behind; we must do something for the boys!” I calmly replied, “I don’t do things for boys - I do things for students.” I was not rehired.

Everyone is intelligent. No one should receive more or less attention because of gender - we’re all valuable. The difference between male and female is the presence of testosterone or estrogen – not intelligence. Boys are not “falling behind” – girls are unshackled, encouraged to share their intelligence - so it seems girls are achieving more. Society gains from the gifts of individuals.

If equality is truly supported, bullying has no reason to exist.
