Falling from Heaven

Jehovah "Jove" Heaven is the consummate gambling man. After winning a jumpdrive in a card game, he devises a get-rich-quick plan in which he must purchase the tugboat that he has been captaining for many years. After installing the drive on a ship that was never meant to jump space, Jove enlists the help of his son.

His son, G.S., finds himself stranded on a primitive world after the prerequisite villain forces Jove to make an unplanned jump. With an amazing technologically-based healing ability that the natives misconstrue as divine, G.S. begins to travel this new world healing the sick and injured with his new friends Peter, James, John, a snot-nosed teenager named Judas, and a whole ton of Marys.
