She stared at her double and said, “I'm ready to go home now.”
Poison sighed, “I may have done something.”
Apple groaned, “Let me guess. You switched us with one of those drawn in the air spell things and now you can't get us back in own universes?”
“Hey, you're pretty swift there, Kiddo.”
“And those were my favorite jeans.”
Poison turned sideways and stated, “Damn right, they show off our butt nicely, don't you think?”
Apple clenched her teeth and demanded, “You have got to put us back.”
Poison tossed her white hair and said, “You're kind of a bitch, aren't you?”
Apple banged her fist on the glass.
“Relax Kiddo. I can do it, but there's one catch. I need the Obsidian Book from Cecilia.”
“What book? Cecilia is gone. The King's Demons burned up her house after fighting a Revul.”
“You're kidding me. Damn.” Poison's voice was disingenuous.
“You aren't surprised.”
Poison reached for something beside the mirror and brought out a pack of cigarettes. She tapped the package and shook one loose.
“You're smoking in my room!”
Poison lit it and puffed out a smoke ring. She used the cigarette to gesture and said, “I told Cecilia she was trying out too much of the stuff from the book.”
Mieri's voice came from the doorway. “Apple, are you talking to someone?”
“Oh, thank god. Mieri come and see. It's Poison.”
Mieri hesitated, then entered the room.
Apple gestured, “There's she is!” The girl had disappeared, replaced with Mieri's image.
Mieri answered. “Yes. I see you, Poison. The spell is affecting you. You need more rest.”
Apple clenched the sides of the mirror. “Dammit. She was right here.”
Mieri nudged her.
“I'm not crazy.”
“Just lie back and rest.”
“On no she doesn't. She's awake, and we are late,” Halo said, entering the room.
Mieri gave Halo a vexed look.
“Keislan's waiting, time to go.”
