Synopsis

As the second book in this series, following Recall to Arms, Army Major Peter Shields, is on top of the world. As the new Director of Counter-Terrorism with the National Guard Bureau, he now works in Washington, DC. He’s gained Presidential attention and fallen in love with the most fabulous girl in the world, Rachael Aston. She’s well educated, beautiful and successful as a civilian intelligence officer in the Defense Department. They met almost a year earlier on a task force in Chicago defeating a group of foreign terrorists intending to destroy the city with nuclear bombs (Recall). Both nearly died in the process.
As the story begins, Rachael discovers through a foreign intelligence source that sixteen SA-18 shoulder-launched missiles have been smuggled into the States. A plane is shot down over Atlanta and another damaged on takeoff from Dallas. Hundreds of people are killed. Terrorists demand huge payments to protect the industry. Capturing them involves the CIA, NSA, and Army INSCOM (Intelligence and Security Command). Then a message is received from “King Cobra” offering to disclose the location of the remaining missiles for a billion dollars.
One day after the ransom is paid by the Government and the terrorists are captured, a high-level security meeting is called at CIA headquarters, Langley, Virginia. An Iranian Minister and intelligence asset is about to be executed as a spy. Shields rescues him with SEAL Team 2 assistance. The plot turns when the CIA Director is murdered to cover-up the true purpose of the extorted funds.
Action is required again inside Iran to regain the money, and Shields is the only soldier familiar enough to take the mission on short notice. Emotions flare between Rachel and Peter, threatening their relationship. He must choose between risking his life one more time, or loosing her.
