Maria Difillippo is a college-educated, Italian American, chunky, curly-headed woman geologist – everything men in the oil patch in the Basin in Texas hate. When she gets her passport to the Great State of Texas to work in the oil patch, she finds oil and a lot more: a nickname only a Texan could love, a lustful coworker who won’t take no for an answer, a gorgeous oil baron’s son who will defy his momma to be with her, and an awful lot of tarantulas, scorpions and dust.
