A Promise to Miss Thi: And Other Stories of Betrayal

South Vietnam, the last days of April, 1975, just prior to the North Vietnamese conquest. Burt McCarren, a US government civilian employee with many years of service in Vietnam, meets Miss Thi, a beautiful young Vietnamese woman he is strongly attracted to, but who has resisted his advances. As the military situation deteriorates and South Vietnam descends into chaos, these two people must confront not only their true feelings for each other, but their uncertain future in a world which is crumbling around them.

The stories that follow tell of a young soldier forced to obey an order he abhors, an officer who compromises his principles to gain a coveted award, and a betrayal which may, or may not have prompted divine intervention.
