A Casualty of Hope

Bernie Robertson has a recurring nightmare of being pursued by a killer through a snowy desert. This could be a response to the stress of divorcing an abusive husband, or her nightmare could be the repressed memory of an actual event. When Bernie's husband is arrested, and her apartment trashed, Bernie makes the decision to move to Texas and search for her birth mother. In Texas, she meets Mike West, and man she's attracted to, but one with a secret he is trying to hide. But Bernie's search for her birth mother plunges her into a terrifying situation where the event she is struggling to remember might be the thing that puts her and her toddler daughter in terrible jeopardy.
