Was Jesus a Socailist?

Every election year certain people, pushing their agenda, will bring up the idea that Jesus was a socialist. After all, they argue, he provided free food and healthcare? Isn't that proof enough?

But is it? Or should we take a more intellectual approach and actually examine the scriptures to see what is true?
