Charles the Bug Workman was imprisoned for a generation for the murders of Dutch Schultz and three of his associates. The murders were among the most grisly in the annals of organized crime history. The slayings occurred in the Palace Chop House in Newark, New Jersey in October 1935. My e-book looks at the crime and some other noteworthy assassinations carried out by Murder, Inc. in the years from 1935-1940. The head of Murder, Inc., Louis Lepke Buchalter was a fugitive at this time. His former partner, Jacob Gurrah Shapiro, had given himself up to authorities and was serving a two year sentence in prison.
