Axel Redhu is the warlord of Purdha and its vicomte’s illegitimate son, his most fierce warrior in the Nordish Wars. When the king of the Nords asks for peace and a marriage between his daughter and the vicomte-palatine‘s son to cement the truce, Francois at first refuses because his heir is only a child. Then he has a plan. He grants Axel a title and betroths him to the Nord king’s daughter, ensuring the peace.
Unfortunately, neither Ax nor Princess Astrid want to get married, especially to each other. It’s hate at first sight and the marriage is anything but happy. Still, they try for their countries sakes, but things only seem to go from bad to worse. Axel thinks his bride is a spoiled, pampered, and inconsiderate little chit. Astrid considers Axel a rude, crude, uncouth barbarian just as she believes nothing Purdhan can ever be as good as anything Nordish. She’s also informed him their marriage is never going to be consummated and so far, she’s managed to keep him at arms-length, with the aid by her trusty dagger.
Both kingdoms are very aware of the hatred between the two and the hope of an heir is going to stay that, unless something happens soon. Just when both parents are certain all is lost, there’s a storm and a shipwreck, and now two young people who despise each other are going to have to work together to survive…or else.
