Hand in Hand

It's 1963 and there's little support for someone with a mind-altering disease. Confronted with a diagnosis that will alter Rosie MacIntosh and her husband's life, the younger wife doesn't feel strong or wise enough to face this dilemma, Her active husband, only fifty-five, has been told he has Alzheimer's disease and his days as a science teacher are numbered. It takes the wit of a fellow teacher and friend to help Rosie and Patrick secure their financial future. As Rosie helps her husband finish out the school year, fears she'll succumb to the desire to run away overwhelm her. Then another family situation forces her to focus on an orphaned nephew that's been thrust on the childless couple's doorstep. This family union can only temporary so Rosie searches for the right family to aid young Allen who's never had a solid foundation. She sees his potential to be a responsible young man but if he doesn't temper his hostility, no one will take him under their roof. As she bares the brunt of his dissatisfaction, Patrick forms a bond with the eleven year old. The unexpected happens when Rosie realizes Allen's angry might not be fear of rejection but actually a response to her hidden emotions.
