Bad Bitch Blues

Life’s never easy. It’s rarely fair. In fact, Life’s a crapshoot. We don’t know the result until we roll the dice. But what happens when the dice roll says someone wants you dead?

I heard a squeal of tires and glanced in my rearview mirror. A dusty and faded white Ford pickup that had been behind me was accelerating quickly and passing in the left lane. As it came alongside, I glimpsed the twin barrels of a shotgun sticking out the window. I hit the brakes hard and the double blast went across the front of my car. For the second time in less than a week I saw the flash and fire of a gun going off in my face.
