Cherry Grove-Tale From the Bayou Boogaloo (Short Story)

The short story Cherry Grove by EG Lee precedes Soul Tool, Revenge of the Cadaver Dick, first from the Bayou Boogaloo set down in deep South Louisiana. In Cherry Grove, Lee introduces future Iberia Sheriff Jimmy Lagneaux Burke as a young sailor in the Philippines with a dark secret, a secret confessed to a young prostitute, of a murder he committed at Cherry Grove, a plot of land in the far back headlands of Patoutville, Louisiana. After taking advantage of services paid, he indicates what he has planned for her, another confession, that if she understood English, would have her fleeing in terror.
