Green Bay Packers vs. New York Giants 1944 NFL Championship

The New York Giants had beaten the Green Bay Packers at the Polo Grounds on November 19, 1944. The Packers won the Western Division and New York edged out the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles for the Eastern Division crown. On December 17th the two professional football teams met again at the Polo Grounds in a playoff to decide the championship of the National Football League. Despite having lost to the Giants only weeks earlier Green Bay was made a solid 2-1 favorite over the Giants.
