Whoever bears the mark is the next to die at the hands of Old Black Nick, the wolf-like beast that haunts the moorlands when the moon is full. Now Amphelis bears that mark. Betrayed by her mother, father, and the church, a desperate fire grows within her. She knows she must do anything to survive the night once she is abandoned on the moors.
