Emoter: Complete

Emoter is a different kind of story which has elements of a romance, a fantasy, an adventure, a love story (with spice), humor, and a late coming of age. In a science fiction setting of an alternate timeline, Emoter takes you into the life of a young woman named Lynn Sue.

The first section of Emoter covers almost twenty seven years of Lynn Sue’s life and some of her experiences which shape her adult personality. Although she was very curious when she was younger, part of her adult personality is that she has no interest in anything related to intimacy after overhearing her older classmates talk about their less than pleasant experiences and then having to deal with males only interested in her physical beauty. A few months into her first job after medical school and specialization, she is content with being an introverted research scientist who quietly studies brain scans and whose social life consists of occasionally visiting one friend or her aunt.

The other twenty sections in Emoter records the details of what happens after Lynn Sue agrees to participate in a project that is trying to collect digital recordings of emotions generated by brain wave activity. With a nickname of ‘Ms. Android’, Lynn Sue isn’t surprised that her emotional recordings for the first few weeks are so low level that her one friend at work, Mariam, threatens to use them as a sleeping aid.

While visiting her aunt, Lynn Sue experiences something totally unexpected which she belatedly realizes caused her to have feelings of a sexual nature and she is even more surprised to recognize that it was very enjoyable. After talking to her aunt in an attempt to understand what happened to her, she is unprepared for Mariam’s reaction when her experience is clearly revealed by her emotional recordings or when someone tests one of her recordings and describes it as, ‘WOW’. Lynn Sue struggles to understand how her self-image as a scientific ‘nun’ can be so quickly overturned and how her entire life is turned inside out by that single event.

Lynn Sue’s life is further complicated when the project is forced to be sold and she and Mariam struggle to start a new company to take over the project and redirect it to more of a therapeutic emphasis based on the high quality of Lynn Sue’s emotional recordings. And while that’s going on, she tries to understand her feelings about the man she met who doesn’t fit society’s ideas of a dream man, but who enables her to experience the almost pure positive emotions which result in her high quality emotional recordings and fill her with acceptance and belonging. Rather than take advantage of her innocence regarding intimacy, he takes her on a journey of touching and as one step of the journey leads to the next, she is astounded at how his touch can cause her emotions to build from comfort to enjoyment through excitement to pleasure and climax in ecstasy. And every step is clearly documented by her emotional recordings.

As if that isn’t enough to totally change her life, she finds herself in several self-defense situations then threats force the company out of its office less than a month after their product goes online and a lawsuit from the pharmaceutical industry tries to shut the company down. Somehow, she survives all that’s thrown at her and in less than a year after they start, Lynn Sue is the leader of a globally recognized company which makes emotional recordings (anonymously submitted) available to eager customers who want to experience comfort, joy, emotional healing, and even intimate pleasure like they’ve never felt it before.
