“It’s Kind of a Funny Story” by Ned Vizzini was first published in 2006. The author is said to have said that he was inspired to write this book after his brief hospitalization owing to depression in the month of November, 2004.

It proved to be a highly successful book and it got recognized as the Best Book for Young Adults from the American Library Association in 2007. The novel was adapted into a movie that was released in the month of October 2010.
