“Bullets?” is a collection of flash fiction pieces written by Aidan McNally. All pieces portray a grim reality and sense of ambiguity. Cheaters Never Win is a time-period piece, along with Both Sides Bled Red. Get Away Car and A Birthday Surprises are crime-drama pieces.

Extended Description

The stories in “Bullets?” fit into two different categories: contemporary crime and historical pieces.

First, Cheaters Never Win is a western where a poker game escalates into a duel to the death.

Second, Both Sides Bled Red is the fictional account of a Confederate speech given to soldiers before the Battle of the Wilderness.

The other category begins with Get Away Car. A liquor store hold-up that thematically displays ambiguity and hopelessness.

A Birthday Surprise accounts the tail of a bank robbery that occurs right as a father is cashing a check in order to buy his daughter ice cream for her birthday.
