Emmeline (Em) Brandt hates everything about her life from her overbearing mother, Cecilia, and her pristine and stiff wardrobe down to her very name. Em is sure to keep her tongue in her mother's presence and hides away in her quiet rebellion but upon meeting and befriending the ever helpful gardener, Levi, she takes her rebellious nature and sets it free to come into her own. Pushing her daughter to marry the son of a criminal to force a business merger, Cecilia refuses to give up so easily and continues to plot against her daughter.
