In his mandatory one-year service to his country, Nigeria, Ahmed, a graduate of computer science, was sent to Imo State where he worked with a computer training college in the state capital, Owerri. He was the secretary of his organization and was selected to embark on a trip to Abuja, his first one there, for a conference which other chapter members would attend. He set out on the trip with two other members and looked forward to it with gusto. As it turned out, the journey was not a smooth one as they encountered several delays and discomfort on their way there. After the conference where they spent just one day, it was time to return to Owerri. Their horrid experiences on their way to Abuja were just a foretaste of the pain and torture their return journey would present to them. This short story is one of unexpected encounters and determination to achieve set goals; Fortitude and perseverance were needed to get back home.
