Alan Davidson’s life is a real mess since his mother died. Then he meets Lisa Duffield —she’s the new girl in school— he thinks she’ll turn his life around. He soon learns she’s got problems —even bigger problems than his own. So he stays clear and goes about his own business while Harlan Duffield, her brother, sells drugs like candy, and uses his sister as a bargaining chip in a fiendish thirst for power.

When Alan finds Lisa dead from a mysterious drug overdose, he blames himself. He gives up.

Mr. Davidson —a traveling rep for a Software Company— has lost his patience with Alan. Mr. Davidson has his own life to set right after his wife’s premature death. So, Alan feels very much alone. And yet he is far from being alone.
