Luc Van Tien: Translated and Annotated

Lục Vân Tiên is an epic poem written in chữ Nôm which talks about the life and challenges that the titular hero has to face on his path honor and fame. This poem is regarded as one of the most popular literary works of Vietnam, and through its relatable characters, fairy-tale-like storyline, simple language and memorable imagery, Nguyển Đình Chiểu discusses the traditional virtues and values which all men and women must uphold in life.

This bilingual book contains the Vietnamese text of the poem, the English translation (following the rules of Lục Bát) and the annotations at the end of the translation to further explain the stories, allusions and meanings behind certain expressions used throughout the work.
