The Lady Far Freedom Part 3

A shimmering, golden thing rests beside the lake inside the Navy starship Freedom. It never speaks but it may be listening. No one knows what it is or who it is but everyone knows it is capable of doing anything it wants to do. No one fears what it might do but only what it might not do: save the human race.
The conclusion to the story is complicated, emotional, and violent. You might expect there is no happy ending. Do not expect anything.
