Mysterious Cowgirl

It was the late 1800’s when the stranger rode into the small western town. Entering a store he asked if there was any work to be had in or around the town. Standing by herself, a young lady was being obviously ignored by the shop keeper and several other patrons. Only a young woman that worked behind the counter would speak to her. The Mysterious woman went to the man and said, “I need some work around my ranch. It doesn’t pay much and the work is hard.” He said, “I’ll take it for room and board.”
As they left town, he noticed that everyone stared at the woman that hired him. There was something that he had to find out on his own as now no one would talk to him either. What was the mystery about this woman? Why was she alone on the ranch? What had happened to her parents? Why was she shunned by the people of the town?
