The Sharded Boy

At 16, Jahl Pratter struggles every day to earn a copper or two, enough to rent another magic standing stone for the next day’s effort to be recognized as a wielder of merit. When a stranger hires him to repair a damaged cane for a gold coin, Jahl dreams of owning his own magic stone and living in his uncle’s abandoned clan house in town. But his dream is plagued by his family’s desperate need for money to save their farm, the fear that any wielding will bring back the Wielder Wane epidemic that decimated the wielder population, and an unknown enemy stalking the wielders of Chussen Faire and Jahl in particular. When Jahl is asked by his ex-best friend and his sister who made his life miserable in school to help them save their father’s business, Jahl must battle physical and mental scars to achieve his own desires and see others for whom they truly are.
