Hollywood. The major studios are being held hostage by gangsters with threats of union strikes. A movie mogul who refused to give up control of his studio is set afire in a locked elevator. Meanwhile, a famous movie actress is murdered and Detective James Blake is hired to find her killer. He crosses paths with a young starlet—Amy Harrington.
