Excerpt
I watched enthralled as Rebecca’s body went from tense at the onset to being completely limp from the neck down. Her arms were hanging at her sides and her legs were sprawled out. At that point I noticed that my own arms had gone from being folded across my chest to hanging limp and loose at my sides. I turned my eyes to my sister and noticed that her whole body was limp and her head was bobbing up and down as her eyelids slide closed and then struggled open. I looked back at Rebecca to find that she had completely gone limp and now was slumped forward, eyes shut completely relaxed.
Suddenly I thought I heard Robert say my name so I looked over at him. Our eyes met and he began to address me.
'So relaxed. So easy to slip away. So relaxed. Deeper. Heavier. Sleepier. Sleepy. Sleepy.'
All of a sudden it was like gravity had increased its hold on my body ten fold. My eyes slipped closed and then I struggled to open them. My head bobbed down and then I managed to pull it up, but it wouldn’t stay like that. I tired to use my arms to prop my head up but they were so blissfully warm and heavy that I couldn’t even imagine moving them. My eyes closed again and then again. I managed to open them one last time, and then I let go. I felt myself falling so gently. I can’t remember anything after that.
