Have you heard of the copper scroll treasure map? This treasure map was discovered in a cave by the Dead Sea in Israel in 1952. Unlike the other Dead Sea scrolls with their religious contents, the copper scroll listed over sixty sites where vast quantities of gold and silver bullion were secretly buried. The scroll also outlined that there was a duplicate inventory of the treasures in existence. Several expeditions have taken place to find the treasures but so far not even a coin has surfaced. That should not be surprising because the descriptions of where the treasures were buried were too vague to be recognized.
When I first came across the copper scroll I was surprised to find that it was adorned with lists of numbers some of which I immediately recognized. For instance, the first instruction was to go 40 cubits under steps in the valley of Achor to find 17 talent weights of silver treasures. Those two numbers of 40 and 17 together reminded me of Noah where the flood started on the 17th day of the second month and it rained for 40 days and 40 nights. The match was with a couplet of those two numbers and it seemed that this was intended because the next sets of numbers on the copper scroll were actually arranged in pairs where they were hemmed in between two Greek letters.
The first three couplets on the copper scroll proved to be the key to unlock the secret encryption. The matching process with couplets of numbers was as rare as finding twins and it continued down the scroll and they paired with their counterparts in the Old Testament. The evidence mounted to prove conclusively that the Old Testament books were the duplicate inventory, which the copper scroll had referred too. That was a major breakthrough but the real mystery was even more perplexing for what were the scribes of the copper scroll trying to tell us when they highlighted particular numbers and places in the Old Testament?
In the investigation the numbers formed into a grid of coordinates to reveal the great secret knowledge of the biblical prophets. Those prophets had told of their psychic visions, which were considered to be divinely inspired. Their greatest prophecy was of the coming of a Messiah who would open up a gateway to God’s kingdom in heaven. Now here with the grid of those identified sets of the numbers in the Old Testament were the indices and technical formulas, which outlined various theoretical gateways to the heavens. It was a prodigious work of pure genius and furthermore, the technical details were in the scientific language of time itself. The copper scroll had endured the vagaries of the elements over two thousand years and that was a miracle in itself. But the secret message it imparted was truly divine. The scroll had steered us to the first scientific evidence from biblical times to show that the prophets were guided by a higher form of intelligence.
