Footloose in volatile Guatemala City, the Renegade Captain Gringo isn’t looking for a fight—until a very persuasive widow gets him a commission in the Guatemalan Army His first job: to rid the northern border of Mexican invaders. Nobody tells him, though, that British Royal Marines are steaming upriver in his direction. Leading a mule back regiment, armed with antiquated artillery, Gringo rides into the jaws of war.
