Coloring Outside the Lines

Growing up Travis and his family wondered why coloring inside the lines was so difficult for him. His motor skills were behind that of his peers and so it was decided that he be held back a year to start Kindergarten when he was six years old. As he began to get older everyone noticed that Travis colored outside the lines in all areas of life. It took years for him to get diagnosed with autism. After learning he was autistic Travis began to realize why it always seemed like he was coloring outside the lines in life. Using the coloring book and crayons as a picture for how he describes his life. he shares in this book how difficult it was to figure out how to color inside the lines not just with crayons and pictures; but also in all aspects of his life. This book is a glimpse into what it is like for a child with autism spectrum disorder.
