The Lion, The Ring And The Story: An Essay On The Role Of Fiction And Fantasy In Christianity

A short, personal reflection on the proper role of storytelling and fantasy in the culture of Christianity and in the life of a Christian, including a short discussion on the author's own motivation for writing (and reading) fantasy. It also includes a consideration of the history of storytelling in Christianity, of their biblical mandate, and of how stories can be used to bolster Christian understanding. It also tackles the issue of escapism in fantasy stories, largely sharing the understanding of Professor J.R.R.Tolkien, and the need for a Christian presence in the popular media.
