Detective Arcole

It’s near future and detective Martin Arcole, nearing retirement, doesn’t understand the world anymore. Vehicles that drive themselves, AI digital assistants that talk and behave like real people, walls that turn into giant TV screens - the landscape has become frighteningly unintelligible for Martin.

The police chief is letting him coast to retirement and assigns him a simple suicide case. Rookie investigator Natalie, still in school and specializing in cyber crimes, is paired with him under an apprentice program. Ambitious and hard working, Natalie soon picks up a digital trail that makes them realize this is no simple suicide.

This is a near future science fiction thriller told through the eyes of detective Arcole. It’s hard Sci-Fi short story, and it explores how emerging technologies will enable criminals of future to perpetrate their crimes.
