A fictional story of the Clarke family and the local community in the small town of Glenbeg, County Tyrone and their fight for freedom and the Irish Cause against the British Army in 1972. Following the shooting of protesters in Derry City the Nationalist community are outraged at these murders and turn to the Irish Republican Army (IRA) for vengeance and protection. Sean Clarke is the Officer Commanding of the local IRA Company and he welcomes the new recruits with open arms. Sean brings some of the Glenbeg Volunteers to Belfast for training and while he is in Belfast becomes involved in a shoot out with British soldiers from the Military Reaction Force (MRF). The MRF are are a highly trained covert force used in the shooting of suspect IRA Volunteers and the general terrorising of the Nationalist Community. Two of the MRF members are killed in the shootout and MRF commander Sergeant Major Kenneth Colthurst vows revenge. Unknown to Sean he is recognised by an informer and the MRF unit follows him to Glenbeg to kill him and to wipe out the Glenbeg IRA Company. What follows is a story of plots, deception, informers and death as Sean and the Volunteers increase their attacks on the British Security Forces and the MRF and they in turn, struggle to halt and eliminate the Glenbeg Irish Republican Volunteers.
