The Silent Sentinel

This is a story about the brainwashing techniques of religious institutions, in this case, predominantly, the holy Catholic Church. It tells of the struggle to appease the dogma of the church's teaching that has been installed in the mind of a young Australian boy.
Ruben Carter tells this tale in a mainly biographical, sometimes comical, account of his young life in a small country town.
It tells of his tormented efforts to work his way through the sins of the flesh, which was the church's major assault weapon used to instill fear into the hearts and minds of the faithful. If you didn't fear hell, would you really bother??
