Desperate Measures

Laurie and Richard Moore are a golden couple with one major flaw. Laurie can’t conceive. After trying for three years to have a child, they seek professional help only to learn that the problem lies with Laurie. Adoption seems the next step, but that, too, becomes a trial. Finally, their marriage is falling apart and Richard leaves. Only, he returns a few days later with an infant. Though he claims one of his lawyer pals cut him a deal, Laurie fears the adoption isn’t 100 percent kosher. However, she accepts it, because it saves her marriage and gives her the child she always wanted. When the child is seven, a cancerous tumor is discovered and Richard confesses the terrible truth about the adoption.
