Inspired by Victorian novels or film noir, Aedyn Jak's stories draw on elements of horror, the supernatural and the bizarre. The writer weaves the atmosphere into each story, as a character in and of itself. The stories lampoon the reader from place to place; the wild west desolation that is Beaufort Gulch, to a luxurious Paris in Drapes, to a nostalgic religious festival in Tainted Saint, set in Malta, to name a few.
There is a nugget of gold for each reader; a mysterious blue manor and its foreboding amnesiac owner, a group of bestial women who run a nail salon, to a little boy who's nail-biting night terrors seem to have more meaning than is apparent.
Each story is punctuated by a carefully crafted illustration by the writer himself and it comes true that the writer's psychology and film background come immediately into play in the words on the page.
