In the summer of 1739 there is one name on everyone’s lips—Geoffrey Alphonse Moreau. The acclaimed writer’s work is the talk of the town, but little do they know the hand wielding the pen belongs to a woman, Guiliaine de Fauvre, Marquise de Chanton. Her sufferings of being married to a tyrant, unable to bare children for him, and his subsequent double life at Versailles with his mistress are emoted through the written word until she meets Varian du Gervais, an admirer of Moreau’s work as well as the Marquise, herself. Secrecy becomes her chief exploit, but just how long can she keep the greatest secret of all from her lover, who admires Moreau so greatly?
