Thomas Gold grew up in the cold streets of London. He met his wife, Isabella while studying at Oxford. After the death of their third child and the ill health of his wife, Thomas takes his family to an old cattle farm in Queensland, Australia; left to him by his grandfather. It is 1920, and the Gold family is desperate to make it through the drought. They are out of water, money, and hope.The rain finally falls, and the Family celebrate; the children splash in mud; catching raindrops on their tounges.
