The Oak Of Innocence is a story that highlights the real hardships of living in 19th century Britain. When small villages grew to be bustling towns impregnated with factories mills and pits. Living conditions and work-related dangers were all part of surviving. This story not only digs up the past in great detail it adds other horrors to the mix such as murder, deception and the supernatural. Its a tale of woe and triumph with many twists and turns. Wilfred is a miner who does everything he can to support his family but work dries up at the pit due to an unforeseen injustice. The Cotton mill us under transition from the owner to his son who has a very low tolerance level for those beneath his social standing. The story is based on one event that happens every year in November - The Homage of the oak. The story is being explained by a descendant of Wilfred the miner. She explains to her granddaughter Lydia why the people of Toverton pay their respects and the consequences should they stop. This story does not leave anything out, it's not sugar coated like most TV series.
