God Knows Where his Children are

Emma had just moved to California with her mother and new step-dad, whom she called Pappy. Her mom worked long hours, and Pappy stayed home and took care of her. Her mother said Pappy had been in the army and had been wounded so he couldn't work. It was fine with Emma as she didn't want to go to a day-care. But one particular day, she woke up to her bed moving across the room. Pappy quickly told her it was a earthquake and there were many of them in California, but Emma was only five and to her it was terrifying. Pappy had to go get his medicine, fromt he liquor store and he had to leave her for a few minutes, he promised to come right back. Emma was scared. Pappy came over to her and sit beside her on her bed, "You don't have to ever be afraid Emma."

"I don't? Why?" she asked him.

"Because God knows where his children are." He told her.

Emma didn't know much about God yet, but Pappy seemed so sure, she stopped crying.
