Addie Finds a New Way of Life in 1910s Rural South. Addie is a share cropper’s daughter. Forced to find her own way when she turns 18, she catches a train to South Georgia. In the dusty farmland of the south she meets Fenton Compton. A hard man who offers her a life working on his small farm, but when he mentions sharing his wife’s womanly duties Addie begins to understand what her new way of life truly means.
