Every morning, Alexia would look back towards home and imagine him, The Devil, standing at the doorway, eager to greet any unfortunate guest that may wish to enter there but never ever leave and as she looks back towards the darkened attic windows of her old house she smiles, knowing something far more terrifying than the devil resides within.
To outsiders Alexia’s life might seem rather good, her world possibly quite ordinary and in many ways she would have preferred it that way even though she does live on Hobbs Lane, a name considered by the Catholic belief system to be an alternative title for the devil, but high up within the attic of her parents old Victorian house, Alexia harbored an ancient secret - a secret charged with the responsibility of protecting mankind against The Darkness - a force of immeasurable evil - and even though life as a teenager has its fair share of ups and downs all is well in Alexia’s world until James, her best friend, unwittingly takes a wrong turn whilst trying to find the loo and to his horror discovers Alexia’s nan, Ellora Pendragon, whose time on this earth is almost over as the quest for her successor comes to an end.
With her nan gone and the truth that her mom, taken by the Darkness many years ago, was not all she seemed, Alexia must face her nightmares alone with only Bertram, a rather sinister eleventh century cat, to guide and protect her.
