Wendy

"Wendy", the third book of the series, stars the friendly, gregarious, and enthusiastic cheerleader, Wendy Wainwright. After resisting Wendy's overtures for months, Dale asks her out and he begins his first romantic relationship. Complicating matters, however, is that Dale still yearns for Amanda, the girl of his dreams, who still seems as unattainable as ever.

The climax of the novel occurs the summer after Dale's junior year when he attends Boys State while Wendy goes to Girls State. Dale drives to pick Wendy up and her dorm and they find themselves alone with more than politics to talk about.
