The Existential Man

"The Existential Man" is the fifth book in the series. It focuses on the young hero as a college student who undergoes something of an intellectual and spiritual crisis. Not yet comfortable as a college student and facing pressure from a difficult home situation, and coming to question many of the ideas he grew up with, Dale begins to think of himself as an "existential man" -- a condition he resists.

Book Five also introduces the reader to two new characters: Cleoma, the carnal, conniving woman who is trying to hook Dale's father; and Sal, her daughter, a temptress who is nothing like the Galilee girls Dale has grown up with.
