The mechanism-based approach to pain management and its clinical utility can allow for better overall pain management. The purpose of this course is to promote, among primary care clinicians and nurses, a broader understanding of the underlying neuroscience, pathophysiology, and treatment principles of pain management. 3. Evaluate the factors involved in the transformation of acute to chronic pain and the pathways that perpetuate chronic pain.
