Fate settled on Esther Marie, an only child, as the next matriarch. Her mother trained her in the ways of magic and those lessons included a large dose of wisdom. However, wisdom refused to be taught and insisted on being earned through living. Esther Marie wasn't always wise once she was on her own. She was expected to have the solution to some of life's most perplexing problems. It was a tall order to fill and Esther Marie tried her best, but there wasn't any magic to rush wisdom along.
