Days of Sand and Royals

They sang in Arabic in unison while they danced back and forth and waved their swords in the air. I was advised by the Saudi Captain that the dances varied by tribe in Saudi Arabia. I really enjoyed the movements and the joyous attitude of the Saudis present. It was quite a display not often seen by foreigners. After a number of the dances, the three of us were invited to join a group of Saudi dancers. I actually felt a little like a native, but without the sword. I followed all the rest of the Saudis and tried to look less silly than I felt. We were dressed in western clothes including suits, shirts, and ties and we felt out of place with all of the Saudis in traditional dress as opposed to their normal blue Royal Saudi Air Force uniforms.
