Massacre at Point of Rocks. Historical fiction. The true story of Ann White and her baby daughter abducted by Jicarilla Apache in 1849. A reluctant Kit Carson was recruited to get her back. This is the first time the Jicarilla side of the story has been told. To this day they will not talk to outsiders about what happened. Doug grew up among friends on the reservation. At another level it is the story of a young man who goes west to meet his hero and is disappointed in the man he finds. He learns what heroism is all about with new respect. Lots of exciting action, a cavalry charge, and insights into Indian life.
