A Sister's Habit

I'm Martin Ward. When my buddy Frank Wilson and I came back from The Great War, we thought we'd left the evil memories and things of the dark forests behind us in the Argonne. It was time for us and everyone else to get on with our lives. The world, including this little corner of Detroit, was struggling through the Depression. So were we.

Apparently private investigators can't catch a break, because missing families and a local parochial school led us on a trail that stirred our memories of shadows we'd rather not have brought back from the War. We hoped we were wrong about our case. And yet, here you are, about to read this.
