Night after night, Remy Bludworth reluctantly fulfills his duty to watch over the chosen one, his betrothed Sabine Crowley, to keep her safe from outsiders who would do her harm just to cause trouble for the vampire lord of Willow Creek. Remy loathes her, or at least tries hard to convince himself of that, but one day she actually is faced with danger from a vampire with delusions of grandeur. Despite the fact that Remy's life would be much easier if Sabine were dead, he finds himself protecting her out of more than just a sense of obligation. But, he can't be in love with her.
